Confluence

Confluence
presents a map of water systems as researched during a two-year-tenure as artist-in-resdidence within the City of Santa Monica Water Division. The work presents a re-earthing of infrastructure, with the map made almost entirely from California clay bodies, accented in brass, wax and acrylic. The legend is intentionally handwritten in pencil, pointing to the fact that all infrastructure is a human invention. And these systems should continue to be reinvented as we face the ongoing climate crisis.
