The Stacks

The Stacks is inspired by the history of freeways in Los Angeles. Home to the first stack (four level) interchange in the world, mid-century Los Angeles  depicted freeways on postcards, proudly declaring her car city status. The building of key freeways such as this one paved over a once connected Los Angeles, with the car replacing trains and trams that connected communities to vital resources and to one another.
